Sante Fe is a city of about 500,000 people. It is the capital city of the province of Santa Fe. The Parana River flows around the city on both sides; there is a lot of fishing and agricultural activity in the city. Boats travel from the city carrying grains and other agricultural products to Buenos Aires, the ocean and other countries. The city is primarily flat, and is located in "la Pampa", or the plains area of Argentina. There are many local neighborhoods with family owned shops. People in Sante Fe are primarily of Spanish or Italian descent. The further you travel North in Argentina, the more you can find indigenous people. The indigenous people of Santa Fe are generally poorer and are more likely to be found living in low-income neighborhoods and the large slums surrounding the city. 

There are soccer fields everywhere. People play 5 on 5 futbol as well as full field games. BBQing and playing futbol are huge parts of the culture. There is a big difference between the rich of Santa Fe and the Poor. There are large fancy colonial houses that the wealthy people of the city live in, as well as the poor slum areas on most outer areas of the city, where the houses are made of sheet metal and concrete. There is a walking area besides a lagoon on the river where thousands of families and friends gather on weekends and evenings to drink Mate tea, and walk.

The structure of Global Student Embassy in Santa Fe revolves around the ISDI English institute. Virginia (a teacher at the institute) and Fiama (a former traveler and university student participant of GSE) are the coordinators of our program in Santa Fe. Edit and her husband Walter (owners of the institute) also generously support the program by providing use of classrooms and computers. Student leaders and coordinators are continuously recruiting students and building on the student base in Santa Fe.
