Morogoro Youth Training Center (MYTC) - Tanzania

Through the hard work and collaborative efforts of American and Tanzanian students and the generous support from our donors, we have successfully launched the Morogoro Youth Training Center (MYTC). The MYTC  acts as a base of operations for GSE in Morogoro, where Tanzanian and international students can collaboratively design and implement youth-based community improvement projects. The center also provides internet access and computer training classes to students and the community of Morogoro. Computer training classes are up and running, giving valuable skills to a diverse range of people, many of whom have had little to no prior interactions with computers.

Directors and GSE members are in the process of developing a comprehensive education program that will be offered through the MYTC organized around 1) Health Education; 2) Globalization and International Relations; 3) Agriculture/Rural Development; 4) Youth Leadership and Development; and 5) Business/Entrepreneurship.

Profits generated from the sale of internet and training courses will be used to fund youth-based community development projects and for miro-loans for student entrepreneurial projects. Two projects launched this summer are the Kilakala School Garden Project and the Muzumbe Poultry Project.
